đ±wheelthrowing 101 [beginnerâs pottery class]
turn soft clay into functional art in this two-hour introduction to the potterâs wheel
đ B Y O B
$75 per student âȘïž 2hr class
learn the basics of âthrowingâ and âpullingâ clay into pottery (and other objects) you can use everyday.
in this 2hr wheelthrowing session, you'll have 3 tries to make a set of bowls or cups and add decoration (if youâd like) with stamps and texture tools.
weâll finish your pieces with your choice of glaze and have them ready to pick up within 3 weeks of class  :-)
these are communal sessions, so there is a chance you will make some new friends in this class.
if these times donât work or youâd prefer a private session, book through our calendar instead.Â

looking for something today? we might be around :-) text liza @ 954-459-8006 for info.
liza q. furr
(e)liza quinn furr is a lifelong floridian, multidisciplinary artist and lizard lover with a decade-long relationship with clay. she began making pots and throwing on the wheel in 2014 while studying at the university of north florida, where she earned a B.A. in sociology with a minor in ceramic arts. she taught at several art studios and museums throughout broward county before launching dirty lizard studio in august 2023.
liza usually pinches and coils clay into everyday objects (talking about a real form-and-function type of person) but occasionally can be found hopping on the wheel when sheâs looking for a little excitement.Â
what to expect in class:
what youâll make:
some beautiful pots with a whole lot of personality!
students generally make 2-3 pieces each â could be bowls, plates, short cups. small vases, etc.
where weâll make it:
class occurs outdoors in our covered studio. expect flora, fauna, and general #florida phenomena.Â
MAY-SEPTEMBER: with summer comes rain! if the weather is too severe to host class, weâll reschedule at your convenience.
what youâll keep:
youâll get to keep any pieces you make, up to three pots each.
how weâll glaze it:
weâll coat your pieces in a clear glaze unless you choose to schedule a glazing day with us.
all pieces are microwave/dishwasher friendly and food-safe once finished.
when youâll get it:
weâll text you when work is ready! please allow for 2-4 weeks of processing after class.
we appreciate the patience âthis is a long process and we try hard to keep a steady schedule but sometimes things happen. weâll keep in touch if so!
we will store work for 45 days after we text you your work is ready!!!
but also: life happens, just talk to us if you canât get back to the studio in that time period and we will figure something out.
however, if we canât get a hold of you, work will have to be sent to alternative storage (donât worry, all pots go to heaven)
dress code? more like mess codeâŠ
make sure to dress for a mess, not for dinner!! short nails, lightweight long pants, and closed-toed shoes are highly recommended.Â
